About the role#
This internship supports the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program. The project involves the design and construction of a new deep-water intake in Lake Ontario, including a 1.5 km tunnel, two vertical shafts, and an offshore modular intake structure. Due to the proximity to an active nuclear site, this role requires adherence to high standards of safety, planning, and coordination.
What you'll do#
- Support the preparation of civil engineering documents, technical notes, and basic calculations.
- Assist with estimating activities, quantity checks, and early cost evaluations.
- Help compile schedules of values, update risk logs, and draft engineering summaries.
- Develop construction planning materials, procurement lists, and initial subcontract documentation.
- Attend design coordination meetings and produce follow-up notes.
- Create visual content such as charts, diagrams, and overview slides for internal discussions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
- Interest in tunneling, heavy civil construction, and underground works.
- Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
