About the role#
The Engineering Intern role provides hands-on experience in district energy, focusing on end-to-end solutions for heating, cooling, and power networks. This position involves supporting plant engineering projects, optimizing system performance, and managing technical documentation. This is a part-time role for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Walk down plant systems to develop and document As Built Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) using AutoCAD.
- Support plant engineering project design, project management, and reporting.
- Provide operations engineering support for plant and distribution performance optimization.
- Conduct inventory of distribution equipment and perform data entry into the distribution system.
- Attend weekly meetings with plant staff to provide progress updates.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a four-year undergraduate degree program in Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite and AutoCAD.
- Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision and maintain a strong focus on safety.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in maintenance environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and industrial equipment.
