Diesel Technician Intern

About the role#

The Diesel Technician Intern works alongside the Service Manager and experienced technicians to maintain diesel equipment. This position focuses on learning the requirements for equipment operation, including conducting inspections, performing preventative maintenance, and managing vehicle records.

What you'll do#

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting diagnostic tests and identifying worn or damaged parts.
• Complete preventive maintenance schedules, install component upgrades, and perform winterization procedures to keep equipment operational.
• Perform basic repairs based on proven ability with mentor oversight, while assisting mentors with major repairs.
• Maintain accurate vehicle service and repair records.
• Ensure shop equipment remains functional by following operating instructions, maintaining supplies, and troubleshooting breakdowns.
• Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Technical understanding with experience using mechanical inspection tools and supply management.
• Strong attention to detail, dependability, and thoroughness.
• Effective verbal communication and documentation skills.
