The Tycko & Zavareei LLP Public Interest Fellowship is a two-year post-JD program designed for new lawyers dedicated to public interest law. Fellows serve as full-time employees, gaining hands-on experience in complex litigation while working alongside senior attorneys. The program aims to launch careers in public service by providing intensive training, mentorship, and significant early-career responsibility.
What you'll do#
- Function as a junior associate, participating in impactful litigation and challenging societal inequities.
- Gain comprehensive experience across all facets of public interest legal work.
- Complete a 12-week nonprofit placement during the second year, working externally with a public interest host organization of your choosing.
- Receive structured litigation training and support from firm leadership.
What you'll need#
- A JD degree.
- Demonstrated commitment to public interest legal work.
- An affinity for litigation.
- Eligibility to sit for the DC Bar exam.
- Status as a recent law school graduate or a candidate completing a judicial clerkship or similar fellowship.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC.
- Term: Two-year fellowship beginning in September 2027 and concluding in Fall 2029.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $95,000 in Year 1 and $109,000 in Year 2.
- Benefits: Includes health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, 401(k) with employer contribution, commuter benefits, and professional development stipends. The firm provides reimbursement for certain DC Bar exam-related expenses.
