TurnUp Activism offers a remote, unpaid internship opportunity for individuals interested in youth civic engagement and grassroots activism. This position is designed for those looking to impact their communities, strengthen democracy, and advocate for progressive social justice issues such as climate change, racial justice, reproductive rights, and ending gun violence. Interns work in teams, participate in weekly virtual meetings, and engage in collaborative projects to boost youth voter turnout and combat voter suppression.
What you'll do#
- Amplify youth civic engagement through grassroots advocacy and activism.
- Conduct research on social justice issues to build awareness and educational depth.
- Participate in and support voter registration drives, including peer-to-peer outreach or organizing efforts at schools.
- Perform targeted outreach and collaborate on voter turnout projects.
- Attend the TurnUp Speaker Series and engage in regular team communication.
What you'll need#
- A strong commitment to social justice and civic engagement.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Interest in grassroots activism and advocacy.
- Willingness to coordinate with your school to receive community service hours or course credit.
- Academic background in Political Science, Sociology, Communications, Psychology, or Human Resources is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
- Work Modality: Remote (United States).
- Commitment: 5 to 30+ hours per week (flexible).
- Term: Rolling applications accepted year-round.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid position; interns are eligible for community service hours, course credit, and potential awards such as the President's Volunteer Service Award.
