As a System Triage Engineer Intern, you will join the System Triage team to evaluate performance data and test results from both real-world on-road testing and autonomous driving system simulations. You will bridge the gap between testing data and software improvement by gaining hands-on experience with embedded system triaging and investigating training data anomalies for machine learning components.
What you'll do#
- Analyze autonomous vehicle behaviors from public roads and closed-course testing.
- Utilize simulation tools to identify edge-case scenarios and export them into datasets to expand and improve machine learning training models.
- Perform counterfactual simulations of selected events and share analysis with Safety, System V&V, and machine learning teams.
- Conduct triage, tracking, and metric reporting for system anomalies and test escapes.
- Leverage 3D visualization tools to analyze sensor data and uncover complex software or hardware issues.
- Collaborate on tooling requirements to improve root cause analysis, metric reporting, and data visualization.
- Maintain defect management processes and optimize defect workflows to ensure high-quality bug ticketing.
- Contribute to integration and deployment schedules to support consistent software stack releases.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 0-3+ years of experience in relevant fields.
- Demonstrated technical proficiencies and competencies in the field.

- Locations: Fort Worth, Texas; Blacksburg, Virginia; or Ann Arbor, Michigan.
- Term: Fall 2026 (August 2026 – December 2026).
- Modality: Hybrid (3 days per week in-office).
- Employment: Full-time, paid internship.
