Summer Student Relief - Production Employee

About the role#

Tolko Industries is seeking Summer Student Relief Production Employees for our Heffley Creek Division in Kamloops, British Columbia. This role supports the efficient and safe production of plywood and veneer products. You will work within a team environment, gaining hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting while contributing to the production goals of the mill.

What you'll do#

• Perform various labour and production duties across the mill to support plywood manufacturing.
• Complete general clean-up tasks, including sweeping and maintaining equipment cleanliness.
• Work independently as part of a team to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods and frequent bending or twisting.
• Work on a rotating shift schedule, alternating every two weeks between day shifts (7:00am to 3:30pm) and evening shifts (3:30pm to 12:00am).
• Work primarily indoors, with exposure to varying hot and cold temperatures.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment as a full-time student.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
• Experience in a production or manufacturing environment; previous experience in the forest products industry is an asset.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding industrial environment.
• Reliable transportation to the site, as the location is not accessible by public transit.

• Compensation: $34.875 per hour.
