Student Loan Operations Manager

About the role#

The Student Loan Operations Manager serves as a subject matter expert for the end-to-end student lending lifecycle at Thrivent Bank. This role is responsible for the administration, compliance, and operational oversight of the student loan portfolio. You will manage vendor relationships, ensure effective execution of loan operations, and partner with internal teams to maintain regulatory adherence and drive operational effectiveness.

What you'll do#

• Provide subject matter expertise in regulatory, compliance, and risk management for the student loan portfolio.
• Own the end-to-end execution of the student loan portfolio, including application, disbursement, reconciliation, servicing, and collections.
• Act as the primary vendor management owner for third-party loan servicers, monitoring performance against service levels and quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement by developing and maintaining comprehensive procedural documentation.
• Collaborate with Finance to monitor portfolio performance, reporting metrics, and trends.
• Interact directly with external clients and borrowers to resolve escalations and address complex issues.

What you'll need#

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of progressive experience in student lending.
• Advanced experience with operational reporting, portfolio analytics, and performance monitoring.
• Strong process ownership with a track record of driving operational efficiency.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Employment Type: Full-time.
• Compensation: $81,537.00 - $110,315.00 per year.
