Licensed Veterinary Technician - Student

About the role#

Bayview Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician student to join our team in Webster, New York. This role is designed for individuals currently pursuing their education who are interested in growing into a licensed technician position upon graduation. You will work alongside veterinarians to provide care for dogs, cats, and exotic pets in a collaborative environment.

What you'll do#

• Assist veterinarians with animal treatment, including restraint, radiology, emergency procedures, surgical and dental support, and nursing care.
• Obtain laboratory samples and perform necessary diagnostic tests.
• Administer and fill prescription medications.
• Maintain the treatment room, including the upkeep of anesthetic machines, monitors, x-ray units, dental equipment, and autoclaves.
• Ensure all treatment areas are properly stocked with necessary supplies.
• Maintain accurate medical records and professional interactions with the hospital team.
• Provide client education and information through various communication channels.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program.
• A valid New York State Veterinary Technology license.
• Prior veterinary or animal care experience is required.
• A professional and upbeat demeanor that promotes a positive team environment.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform tasks such as bending, squatting, and reaching.
• Comfort and confidence handling large animals and exotic pets.

• Employment Type: Full-time.
• Compensation: $23–$26 per hour, negotiable based on experience and credentials.
• Bonus: Eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus based on experience.
