Youth Development Intern Preschool

About the role#

The Youth Development Intern participates in a structured learning experience designed to provide exposure to Early Childhood Education and Youth Development practices within a Y Preschool. This role complements academic or workforce development programs by providing opportunities to observe, learn, and apply foundational concepts of child growth and development in a supervised classroom environment under the guidance of a Preschool Director or Lead Teacher.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured internship experience that supports educational and professional learning objectives.
• Observe classroom routines, transitions, and daily operations to understand program practices.
• Apply principles of child growth and development through supervised classroom experiences.
• Assist with age-appropriate learning activities under the guidance of classroom associates.
• Build relationships with associates and community members while demonstrating core values.
• Engage in coaching conversations and reflective discussions to support professional growth.
• Complete assigned learning activities and documentation as required.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an Early Childhood Education program (high school, college, university, vocational, or workforce development).
• Ability to communicate clearly, follow directions, and accept supervision.
• Professional demeanor and good character.
• Ability to meet all physical certification and training requirements.
• Ability to walk, stand, climb, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
