This is a full-time, paid internship based in Healdsburg, California. You will work under the supervision of the Winemaker and Operations Manager to gain hands-on experience in wine production, from grape to finished product. This role requires a commitment of at least six months of full-time work and involves working in both indoor and outdoor production environments.
What you'll do#
- Learn the various processes within the facility, including cellar operations, compliance, winemaking, and analytical lab procedures.
- Participate in the overall sanitation of the facility to understand baseline processes and safety standards.
- Supervise grape processing during the crush season, including managing grape trucks, monitoring tank drainage and pressing, and conducting daily fermenter tastings.
- Document all production-scale winemaking trials and participate in benchtop trials such as fining and blending.
- Assist with writing and closing work orders and provide status reports upon the completion of major tasks.
- Collaborate with cellar operators to understand the function and operation of winery equipment.
What you'll need#
- Must be 21 years or older upon starting employment.
- Enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergraduate program in Viticulture and Enology (Junior level or above).
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, standing, and twisting, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
