The Washington Post is seeking an Opinion Editing Intern to support the deputy opinion editor in the production of bylined pieces. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship available for terms throughout 2026. This role is open to college juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates with an interest in opinion journalism.
What you'll do#
- Support the deputy opinion editor with bylined content.
- Edit op-eds for clarity, accuracy, and voice.
- Assist with fact-checking processes.
- Manage the op-ed submission inbox.
- Perform additional editorial tasks as required.
What you'll need#
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- A keen understanding of style, grammar, and sentence structure.
- The ability to work calmly under intense deadlines and exercise strong news judgment.
- Availability to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Academic background in Journalism, Communications, English, Political Science, or Media Studies.

- Location: Washington, D.C.
- Work Modality: On-site, five days a week.
- Terms: Winter, Summer, and Fall 2026 sessions available.
