About the role#
The Tribal & Indigenous Engagement Fellow will work with the Tribal & Indigenous Engagement team to center Indigenous perspectives and priorities throughout conservation work in Colorado. This fellowship is part of the Colorado Conservation Fellowship Program, a 2-year, full-time commitment starting in September 2026. The role focuses on the implementation of the Zapata Ranch Preserve Vision and supports organizational efforts to build staff knowledge of Indigenous history, rights, culture, and priorities.
What you'll do#
- Support the Tribal & Indigenous Engagement Program through administrative and coordination tasks.
- Schedule and coordinate logistics for meetings and events.
- Track budgets and process forms.
- Maintain data, reports, and program documentation.
- Manage project timelines and respond to inquiries.
- Communicate on behalf of your supervisor with internal and external sources, including staff, donors, vendors, and businesses.
- Participate in networking, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience living and/or working with Indigenous communities.
- Experience coordinating multiple, simultaneous projects.
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work independently and stay organized.
- Ability to travel locally within Colorado.
- Strong communication skills when interacting with a wide range of people.
