The Juilliard School is seeking Summer Student Mentors for the 2026 summer program. This role provides essential support for daily operations, academic activities, and student life, ensuring a high-quality experience for participants aged 14–19. Mentors live on campus for the duration of the program, fostering a safe and inclusive environment while acting as a central point of contact for students, faculty, and staff.
What you'll do#
- Supervise and mentor a group of residential participants, enforcing campus and residence hall policies, including the Code of Conduct and safety protocols.
- Support daily program operations, including academic, artistic, and performance activities.
- Facilitate communication between participants, faculty, and staff regarding schedules and updates.
- Manage residence hall evening duties, such as nightly rounds, bed checks, and emergency response.
- Plan and implement evening and weekend activities to promote student engagement and wellbeing.
- Assist with move-in and move-out processes, off-campus excursions, and general administrative tasks.
- Attend all required staff meetings, training, and orientation sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student status in music, dance, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in summer music or dance festivals, camps, or pre-professional arts programs.
- Prior experience working with high school-aged students in residential or educational settings.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proven maturity and reliability in supervising students.
- Ability to work long hours in a team-oriented setting, with a schedule typically ranging from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Must be in good academic and conduct standing.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Summer 2026 (June 28 to July 26, 2026).
- Work Modality: On-site; must reside in provided campus housing for the full duration of the assignment.
- Compensation: $1,500 for the full assignment, plus room and board (including a 19-meal per week plan).
