Electronics Tech- Intern

About the role#

This internship role is based in the Front End Innovation (FEI) lab, supporting the PROCELL B2B business. You will contribute to the development of the PROCELL InSite IoT sensor platform by performing hands-on hardware debug, electrical characterization, and prototype assembly. You will work directly alongside hardware, firmware, and systems engineers to analyze PCBA performance and resolve hardware issues uncovered during development and testing.

What you'll do#

• Perform board bring-up of new PCBA designs, including power rail verification and functional validation against design intent.
• Debug hardware issues at the board and system level using schematics, BOMs, and PCB layout files.
• Build, modify, and rework prototypes using hot air and hot tweezer rework stations.
• Disassemble fielded devices for teardown analysis and document findings.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers to translate field issues into actionable test results.

What you'll need#

• Working towards an Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, BOMs, PCB layout files, mechanical drawings, and component datasheets.
• Hands-on debug experience with embedded communication interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, and USB.
• Precision soldering and rework skills for SMT components down to 0402.
• Strong understanding of low-voltage power architectures, including linear regulators, LDOs, and switching regulators.
