Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

The Pharmacy Intern supports the Retail Pharmacy department by assisting with medication preparation, dispensing, and administrative tasks. This role focuses on providing quality care to cancer patients and their families under the supervision of a pharmacist in charge.

What you'll do#

• Dispense prescription drugs and assist in the preparation and charging of medications and supplies.
• Process, enter, and interpret physician orders while checking patient profiles for allergies and drug interactions.
• Mix complex sterile products, including chemotherapeutic medications, using aseptic technique.
• Maintain inventory control, handle pharmaceutical invoices, and manage claims submission.
• Provide excellent customer service by handling telephone inquiries and assisting with patient needs.
• Ensure safety by following established protocols for the preparation, delivery, and disposal of cytotoxic agents.

What you'll need#

• Active enrollment in or graduation within the last six months from a pharmacy school curriculum.
• Current state licensure as a Pharmacist Intern.
• Previous experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
• Familiarity with claim reconciliation or an accounting background is helpful.
