Software Development Intern (Full-Stack / DevOps Support)

About the role#

The 401 Group of Companies is seeking a Software Development Intern to contribute to ongoing development, maintenance, and operational tasks for production software systems. This role involves working directly with the lead developer on live business systems, covering backend, frontend, database, and system administration tasks. Candidates should be comfortable working in a structured, task-driven environment and capable of taking ownership of production-level responsibilities.

What you'll do#

• Assist in debugging and fixing backend issues.
• Write and update APIs using Node.js and Python.
• Support data extraction, manipulation, and correction from SQL Server.
• Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts.
• Implement small feature updates and bug fixes.
• Automate routine backend processes and maintain scheduled jobs.
• Monitor application health, logs, and job execution.
• Assist with UI updates, styling, and frontend bug fixes in React.
• Support integration between frontend and backend APIs.
• Assist with deployment verification and basic DevOps tasks.
• Manage user accounts and assist with non-technical customer support queries.

What you'll need#

• Proficiency in Node.js, React.js, and SQL Server.
• Strong grasp of HTML/CSS fundamentals.
• Understanding of REST APIs.
• Basic debugging and problem-solving abilities.
• Preferred majors include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Data Science.
• Nice to have: experience with cron jobs, logging/monitoring tools, basic DevOps (CI/CD), Git version control, and an understanding of production systems.

• Compensation: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour.
