The Database Developer Intern assists in the development, documentation, and maintenance of application databases that support Credit Union banking and lending products. Working under the direction of senior staff, this role focuses on learning database design principles, SQL development, ETL processes, and reporting. Interns follow established guidelines, templates, and team development practices under close supervision.
What you'll do#
- Support the development, testing, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of database objects, including stored procedures, functions, and inline SQL.
- Work with basic ETL/SSIS processes and SSRS/Power BI reports across multiple products and organizational units.
- Troubleshoot systems, packages, and research findings, escalating issues to senior team members when necessary.
- Migrate basic packages to Web Service or scheduling tools.
- Assist with proofs of concept for improved logging, AI for database development, and the integration of new tools.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in an Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related degree program.
- 0-1 year of basic exposure to SQL, database concepts, or data-related coursework.
- Working knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts, and Web Services.
- Familiarity with database development tools such as SSMS or Visual Studio.
- Ability to assist in testing across development phases.
- Analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Coursework or project experience with ETL concepts, SQL Server, or reporting tools is preferred.
- Understanding of Agile/SDLC development processes is preferred.

- Location: Phoenix, Arizona.
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
- The position operates on a rolling term.
