Sunwater Capital is seeking a Fall Congressional Research Intern to support the Legis1 team. This part-time role offers an opportunity to work with legislative data and gain experience within an investment management environment. The position runs from August 31 to November 20, 2026, with flexible scheduling available to accommodate academic coursework.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research to support current and future Legis1 datasets, focusing on congressional information.
- Explore new data sources and learn how information is structured for integration into data products.
- Support data quality and reliability efforts by performing established checks and documenting observations.
- Assist cross-functional teams with data-related tasks and coordination.
- Collaborate with colleagues on data processing activities.
- Conduct targeted research on specific project topics as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as an undergraduate student pursuing Political Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Interest or foundational knowledge regarding Congress, politics, policy, or elections.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Basic familiarity with spreadsheets, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work under supervision.

- Location: North Bethesda, Maryland.
- Modality: On-site with options for hybrid arrangements.
- Compensation: $15.95 per hour.
