Mountain Intern

About the role#

The Mountain Intern program is a 10-week summer opportunity designed to provide hands-on experience through rotations in mountain and golf course operations. This role focuses on developing foundational skills in team leadership, guest service, and operational maintenance within a mountain environment.

What you'll do#

• Rotate between various mountain and golf operational departments.
• Assist with daily lift maintenance, including equipment repair and replacement.
• Conduct maintenance checks on mountain vehicles, snowcats, snowmobiles, and shop equipment.
• Complete work orders to address mechanical defaults.
• Monitor snowmaking systems and perform basic maintenance on snow guns, pipes, pumps, fans, and compressors.
• Interact directly with guests during golf course operations.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain operational quality while working outdoors.

What you'll need#

• Successful completion of the Far & Wise winter program.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, walk, grip, reach, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
