STULZ USA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support the engineering team in improving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. This role provides hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, facility planning, and continuous improvement initiatives in an industrial machinery manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Support Manufacturing Engineers with the planning and execution of Capital Expense (CapEx) projects, including equipment installations and relocations.
- Conduct time studies and collect production data to support labor standards, capacity planning, and process improvements.
- Create and update manufacturing floor layouts using AutoCAD or other approved software tools.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the development and updating of work instructions, standard work documents, and process documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and project updates for engineering and operations leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum sophomore standing is preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
Location & details#
- Location: Frederick, Maryland.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time (rolling term). Approximately 20 hours per week during the academic year with flexible scheduling to accommodate classes; additional hours may be available during breaks and summer.
- Working conditions: Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and moving equipment. Requires use of PPE and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
