Systems Engineering Intern

About the role#

We are seeking a Systems Engineering Intern to support the development and validation of battery pack systems. This role provides hands-on exposure to engineering challenges, including test development, system validation, failure analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

What you'll do#

• Plan, execute, and document engineering tests for battery cells, modules, and pack systems.
• Design and build test fixtures and experimental setups for electrical, thermal, and mechanical testing.
• Support process trial experiments to improve system performance and quality.
• Collect, process, and analyze test data using tools such as Python, MATLAB, or Excel.
• Assist in root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods like 8D.
• Support BMS integration into test setups, including wiring, communication, and instrumentation.
• Assist with system-level engineering activities including requirements definition, DFMEA, and validation plans.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams.
• Document results and present findings to engineering teams.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong interest in battery systems, energy storage, or electrified systems.
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment, hardware, or prototyping.
• Basic understanding of data analysis and experimental methods.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Preferred experience includes work with battery systems, BMS, power electronics, test instrumentation (DAQs, oscilloscopes, power supplies), and systems engineering practices.

• Location: San Jose, California.
• Modality: On-site (Monday through Friday).
• Compensation: $45.00 – $55.00 per hour.
• Employment: Full-time internship.
