This is a part-time, unpaid clinical student internship focused on providing mental health services within school-based settings. Interns work with at-risk children, youth, and families to deliver strength-based, culturally competent care. This position operates on a rolling basis and requires on-site attendance in Sacramento.
What you'll do#
- Provide psychotherapeutic interventions and mental health services to assigned youth in school settings.
- Conduct assessments and develop, implement, and update individualized support and safety plans.
- Facilitate case management, including securing resources and coordinating with the youth’s support team.
- Develop and co-facilitate rehabilitative or skill-building groups.
- Provide collateral support to caregivers and significant support persons.
- Participate in all required staff meetings, clinical supervision, and consultation sessions.
- Maintain accurate calendars and work collaboratively across agency departments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s level degree program working toward licensure as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC).
- Current enrollment in a Master’s level internship or practicum course for Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Counseling, or Social Work.
- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent and effective mental health services.
