The High School Fellow Teacher role at St. Augustine Preparatory Academy is a full-time position designed to prepare educators for a potential transition to a lead teacher role within two years. Fellows work closely with school administration and lead teachers to develop, plan, and execute lessons. This role requires a flexible, team-oriented approach to support the school's mission and academic goals.
What you'll do#
- Serve as the school-level substitute and provide coverage for daily or extended staff absences.
- Plan and execute engaging, rigorous lessons across various academic subjects.
- Build trusting, supportive relationships with students to ensure they feel known and loved.
- Communicate proactively and consistently with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress.
- Support students’ character development by modeling the school's values of integrity, respect, courage, and perseverance.
- Use academic data to differentiate instruction and meet grade-level standards through whole-group and small-group settings.
- Participate in bi-weekly meetings with instructional coaches and implement feedback to improve teaching practice.
- Assist with daily operational duties, including arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- A commitment to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to support students at various skill levels.
- Demonstrated integrity and the ability to live the values and culture of the school.
- Preferred majors include Psychology, Communications, Philosophy, Nursing, or Public Health.
