Production & Materials Processing Intern

About the role#

Space Resource Technologies is seeking a Production & Materials Processing Intern to assist with the preparation, handling, and quality assurance of planetary regolith simulants. This role provides hands-on experience in manufacturing processes that support space research and technology development, including in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) and robotics.

What you'll do#

• Safely handle bulk materials, including basalt and planetary regolith simulants.
• Operate and monitor processing equipment such as hammermills and conveyors.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent product quality.
• Conduct basic quality checks, including particle size verification.
• Maintain a clean and organized production environment using Lean / 6S principles.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment as a student or status as a recent graduate from a relevant program, such as Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Aerospace, or Environmental Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical procedures.
• Reliability and the ability to maintain consistency in repetitive production tasks.

• Term: Fall 2026 (August 17, 2026 – December 11, 2026).
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Employment Type: Part-time (20-25 hours per week).
• Compensation: Paid internship.
