Software Engineer Intern Fall 2026/Winter 2027

About the role#

Skydio is seeking an intern to join the Cloud Platform and Infrastructure team for the Fall 2026 or Winter 2027 term. You will contribute to the development and scaling of cloud systems that support autonomous flight technology, working on challenges that range from cloud-based services to air-gapped environments.

What you'll do#

• Tackle scalability and deployment challenges in both cloud and air-gapped environments.
• Design and improve core cloud infrastructure and CI/CD systems.
• Enhance telemetry, observability, and developer productivity.
• Build systems for feature flag management and customer rollouts.
• Profile server and backend workloads to optimize performance and resource utilization.
• Develop test frameworks to simulate vehicle states and test application behavior.
• Package cloud offerings for edge or air-gapped environments.

What you'll need#

• Solid computer science fundamentals.
• Meaningful project or internship experience developing complex web applications or backend data systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Golang, and/or Javascript/Typescript.
• Familiarity with REST-ful APIs, Linux configuration, build tools, relational databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL), and caching systems (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
• Understanding of cloud service offerings (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), deployment techniques, and configuration management.
• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

• Compensation: $47/hr for Undergrad, $53/hr for Graduate students, and $58/hr for PhD students.
