Mobile Shower Intern

About the role#

Siouxland Community Health Center is seeking a part-time Mobile Shower Intern to support community health outreach. This position is paid, requires approximately 20 hours per week, and offers flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments. This internship may be eligible for school credit.

What you'll do#

• Prepare the mobile site by connecting external water lines, electrical power sources, and checking propane tank lines.
• Maintain and restock the shower vehicle and supply trailer with towels, washcloths, toiletries, and clothing items like shorts, t-shirts, socks, and underwear.
• Manage shower operations by tracking attendee numbers and enforcing time limits to ensure fair access for all guests.
• Provide participants with fresh linens and distribute basic supplies.
• Coordinate with partner organizations that provide information on housing, medical care, and food resources.
• Perform thorough sanitation by spraying, scrubbing, and disinfecting shower stalls between each user, including weekly deep cleaning.
• Secure the site after use by unhooking utility lines, storing stairs, locking units, and disposing of waste.

What you'll need#

• Ability to perform all primary physical and operational functions of the position.
• Experience in monitoring and restocking inventory.
• Proficiency in thorough sanitation and cleaning practices.
• Ability to manage guests effectively and enforce time limits.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with partner organizations to connect individuals with support resources.
• Students pursuing degrees in Public Health, Health Administration, or Nursing are encouraged to apply.
