Industrial Design / Model Maker Intern

About the role#

Simplehuman is seeking an Industrial Design / Model Maker Intern to join the Product Development team. This role involves building models and prototypes throughout the product development cycle as part of a multidisciplinary team of product managers, engineers, and designers.

What you'll do#

• Create prototypes and components from 3D model files provided by design and engineering teams.
• Operate 3D printers, laser cutters, and other shop equipment to produce medium- to high-fidelity prototypes.
• Edit and optimize 3D model files specifically for 3D printing.
• Maintain shop cleanliness, organize tools, and perform upkeep on 3D printers.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working with model-making materials and equipment, including foam core, wood, metal, acrylic, power tools, and hand tools.
• Demonstrated experience with 3D printers.
• Proficiency in shop processes and safety procedures for tool use.
• Technical proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo.
• Strong assembly and hands-on fabrication skills.
