Medical Student Extern

About the role#

The Medical Student Extern role is a full-time, paid position that provides students with hands-on experience in hospital operations. Externs report to a Division Leader and work under the supervision of a coordinator to contribute to department strategy and process improvement initiatives.

What you'll do#

• Provide support for hospital operations and identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Manage and analyze data to assist in the development of department strategies.
• Attend management meetings and collaborate with various departments across the facility.
• Observe clinical care within assigned departments.
• Participate in clinical simulation exercises.
• Summarize findings from process improvement projects.
• Present knowledge and project results to the team.

What you'll need#

• Current pursuit of a degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Biomedical Sciences.
• Ability to understand and interpret hospital processes.
• Skills in managing and analyzing data.
• Experience or willingness to participate in clinical simulations.
• Capability to prepare and present findings to a professional team.

Location & details#

• Location: On-site at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
• Schedule: Full-time with a rolling term.
• Compensation: $16.54 - $25.24 per hour, based on experience.
