The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting paint and assembly departments at Robinson, Inc. This role focuses on creating and documenting standard processes, troubleshooting equipment downtime, and identifying efficiency improvements to support the production of large-scale custom power generation units.
What you'll do#
- Determine the processes, fixtures, and tools required to produce quality parts to customer specifications.
- Analyze equipment layout, workflow, and assembly methods to support lean initiatives on the shop floor.
- Identify needs for process improvement and analyze cutting-edge technology for potential integration.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including design engineers, operations labor, project managers, and the routing/estimating departments to resolve cost and quality issues.
- Develop standard work for set-up and visual management instructions.
- Assist in processing Engineering Change Notices for the manufacturing floor.
- Report on results of improvement activities and contribute ideas to support company objectives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic knowledge of SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office software.
- Strong critical thinking, logic, and reasoning skills for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work effectively under supervision.
