Software Engineer Intern - Android Connectivity (Fall/Spring Co-op)

About the role#

As a Software Engineer Intern for Android Connectivity, you will contribute to the development of features that power Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular experiences in Rivian and Volkswagen vehicles. You will work within a cross-functional environment to integrate Android platform connectivity APIs and manage connectivity states across distributed in-vehicle ECUs. This role involves debugging complex issues that span app, framework, and hardware layers.

What you'll do#

• Design, develop, and ship Android features in Kotlin, Java, and C++ for apps and shared libraries.
• Integrate Android connectivity APIs and contribute to services that broadcast connectivity state.
• Debug and resolve connectivity issues by identifying root causes across app, framework, and hardware layers.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architecture modeling.
• Collaborate with product, UI/UX, platform, and embedded teams to translate technical requirements into user experiences.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field at an accredited Canadian university.
• Intent to return to school full-time following the completion of the internship.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following: Java, Kotlin, or C++.
• Preferred: Working knowledge of Bluetooth concepts (Classic, BLE, GATT, and profiles) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, and routing).
• Preferred: Familiarity with Android connectivity APIs such as ConnectivityManager, NetworkCallback, or BluetoothAdapter.

• Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
• Work Modality: On-site at the Yaletown office.
• Term: Full-time co-op from September 21, 2026, to April 23, 2027.
• Compensation: CA$24 – CA$27 per hour.
