The Region of Waterloo is seeking a student for a 4-month placement within the Income Support Operations division for the Fall 2026 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Kitchener, Ontario, working Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
What you'll do#
- Verify, print, and prepare social assistance payments and issue reloadable payment cards.
- Process third-party invoices, such as those for vision care and prescriptions.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the section, including data entry and mail processing.
- Respond to inquiries from clients, staff, vendors, and community agencies, or direct them to the appropriate contact.
- Use provincial software and Microsoft Office to confirm information, process payments, and manage client records.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program, specifically in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Public Health, or Human Resources.
- Knowledge of general office procedures, basic accounting, and financial processes.
- Strong organizational skills to process requests in accordance with established guidelines and legislation.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a standard office environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn provincial database systems.

- Term: September – December 2026
- Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday
