About the role#
Rakuten Kobo Inc. is seeking a Business Operations Intern to join the Business Operations team for a 12-month contract starting in August 2026. This role serves as the first point of contact for inbound requests from publishers, authors, and internal teams. You will report to the Business Operations Analyst and help ensure that Kobo services remain available and functional for both internal and external customers.
What you'll do#
- Triage, investigate, and resolve incoming tickets regarding ebooks and audiobooks.
- Troubleshoot content processing failures and escalate issues when necessary.
- Review and analyze recurring technical issues to provide actionable recommendations for operational improvements.
- Maintain and update process documentation for audiobook and ebook operations.
- Support the Business Operations team with ad-hoc projects, including research into digital publishing standards.
- Collaborate with development, delivery, and content management teams to communicate bug resolutions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a college or university program, with a focus on publishing, book selling, or a related field.
- A strong interest in digital media, technology, and the self-publishing industry.
- A general understanding of the book industry, including familiarity with ISBNs, ONIX files, and .epub formats.
- Solid hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel, specifically with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data concatenation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage professional correspondence with external partners.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
