Product Definition Engineer Co-op

About the role#

Quest Defense is seeking a Product Definition Engineer Co-op to support the development and modification of aero-engine components. This full-time, paid position focuses on the mechanical design of gas turbine structures and rotating parts, such as shafts, disks, and seals. You will work within a professional engineering environment to evaluate new design concepts, manufacturing methods, and materials while ensuring components meet performance and life requirements.

What you'll do#

• Support the development and modification of aero-engine components by analyzing performance requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
• Utilize GD&T principles to assist in the accurate 2D drafting of components.
• Perform design and analysis of components using CAE tools, specifically NX.
• Evaluate the form, fit, function, and life of components relative to certified configurations.
• Interrogate the quality of 3D models and 2D drafts alongside team members.
• Document findings, generate reports, and assist with technical program reviews.
• Review non-conformances and recommend disposition procedures to maximize producibility.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a BS or B.Tech in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience with NX and ANSYS (Classic or Workbench) or similar engineering tools.
• Familiarity with the mechanical design of gas turbine or turbo-machinery components.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings with a foundational understanding of GD&T.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal engineering functions.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Location & details#

• Location: Cincinnati, Ohio (On-site).
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with core hours from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Compensation: $21—$23 USD per hour.
