Financial Line Claims Intern

About the role#

QBE Insurance offers a Summer 2026 internship within the North America Claims organization in Chicago. This full-time, paid position supports the Financial and Aviation Claims teams, providing exposure to the daily operations of an international insurance company. Interns work alongside industry leaders to build professional networks and develop skills in risk management and insurance.

What you'll do#

• Learn the claims process from intake to resolution under the guidance of a Claims Specialist.
• Review insurance policies to understand contract terms and coverage provisions.
• Collaborate with internal business partners, including actuaries, underwriters, legal, and litigation management.
• Accompany Claims Specialists to internal and external meetings.
• Participate in educational training sessions.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment at a 4-year accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree. Preferred majors include Risk Management, Business, Finance, or Pre-Law.
• Demonstrated leadership experience through extracurricular activities, community service, or previous work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate clearly, manage competing priorities, and work effectively as part of a team.

Location & details#

• Location: Chicago, Illinois.
• Work Modality: Hybrid, with an expectation to be in the office 4 days per week.
• Term: Summer 2026 (June 1st to August 7th).
• Compensation: $22.00 per hour.
• Note: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
