Human Services Intern

About the role#

Pressley Ridge is seeking a Human Services Intern to support youth and families through a variety of counseling and academic services. This position is open to students currently enrolled in an approved university internship program. The role requires collaboration with school staff and professionals to implement programs and support youth development.

What you'll do#

• Provide individual and group counseling.
• Conduct classroom guidance activities and parent consultations.
• Assist with the registration of new students.
• Perform academic planning and credit evaluation.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries while building rapport with youth.
• Collaborate with a multi-faceted team to support service delivery.
• Complete a half-day Cultural Diversity Training.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's level university internship program in Psychology, Sociology, or Public Health.
• Valid car insurance and a good driving record.
• Ability to obtain required State, FBI, and Child Line clearances.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience working with youth is preferred; experience in crisis intervention is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of issues facing at-risk youth, such as substance use or gang involvement.
