About the role#
Postman is seeking an AI Engineer Intern to work on large-scale AI and agentic systems, spanning from data pipelines to production deployment. This role offers the opportunity to own discrete pieces of real systems under the mentorship of senior engineers, focusing on practical application rather than shadow work.
What you'll do#
- Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate product requirements into scoped AI problem statements.
- Build and validate AI models using PyTorch or JAX.
- Run large-scale experiments, evaluate models against defined metrics, and conduct error analysis.
- Help build inference APIs and batch scoring workflows, integrating AI outputs with backend services.
- Support AIOps practices, including model versioning, monitoring, and logging.
- Contribute to root-cause analysis on production issues alongside senior engineers.
- Document experiments, design decisions, and runbooks to maintain project clarity.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with ML systems, which may include course projects, research, or previous internships.
- Solid fundamentals in Python or Rust, including data structures and testing.
- Exposure to at least one AI/ML framework, such as PyTorch or JAX, and basic data tooling like Pandas or SQL.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills to document work and collaborate across teams.
