About the role#
This is a three-month, fixed-term internship within the Design department, running from September 8, 2026, to December 11, 2026. This role provides an opportunity to gain insight into the daily operations of an international auction house, specifically focusing on 20th and 21st-century design. Interns will receive training in internal systems and research procedures to contribute directly to the department during the fall sale season.
What you'll do#
- Maintain and monitor pre- and post-sale documentation.
- Collaborate with specialists and cataloguers on research projects for business-getting and property for sale.
- Write academic and engaging essays for the auction catalogue.
- Compile data for appraisals and proposals.
- Assist with installation, preview, and sale day tasks.
- Conduct research in local libraries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program or status as a recent college graduate.
- Academic focus in the history of art and design is preferred.
- Strong research and writing skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet strict deadlines.
- Proactive work ethic with the ability to work independently.
- Interest in 20th and 21st-century design.

- Location: New York, New York.
- Modality: This is an on-site, in-person position.
- Schedule: 3 to 5 days per week, 9 am to 6 pm.
- Compensation: $17.00 per hour.
