Civil Engineer COOP

About the role#

Phasor Engineering Inc is seeking a Civil Engineer COOP to join the Civil Group in Calgary, Alberta. This is a full-time, on-site role for a student in their 3rd or 4th year of study. The position involves working within a project team on engineering and design processes for high voltage electrical facilities. Preference is given to candidates available for eight months or longer.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with a team of engineers and designers on structural engineering projects.
• Apply technical knowledge of structural design, including steel, concrete, and foundation work.
• Gain experience in civil works, such as site preparation, earthworks, and retaining walls.
• Utilize structural design software and AutoCAD to produce project deliverables.
• Lead small to medium-sized design projects from start to completion with minimal oversight.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to internal and external parties and attend client meetings.
• Apply safety in design principles and maintain focus on project deadlines.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th-year student in a Civil or Structural Engineering program.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Successful completion of a background check, including identity verification and a criminal record check.
