About the role#
This is an 8-month co-op position running from September 2026 through April 2027. The Actuarial Benefits Analyst provides group benefits consulting support including design and financial management for medium and large clients. You will work alongside internal teams to perform valuations, manage client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.
What you'll do#
- Perform actuarial valuations and accounting disclosures for post-retirement and post-employment benefits.
- Conduct plan design benchmarking studies and monitor carrier and provider service standards.
- Prepare client reports and presentations, including annual renewal analysis and negotiations.
- Support the consulting team by preparing documentation for client meetings.
- Review benefits documentation such as contracts, booklets, and collective agreements for accuracy.
- Assist in building plan design tools and financial databases.
- Gather data to determine the cost impact of plan design changes.
What you'll need#
- Current university student in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline.
- Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accuracy.
- Ability to manage competing demands and work both independently and within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Currently writing Society of Actuaries or Canadian Institute of Actuaries exams.
- Knowledge of actuarial valuation software, such as ProVal, is an asset.
