Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. is seeking a student for a 16-week, full-time summer internship focused on ground truthing data collection. This role supports mapping, infrastructure, and operational projects through field verification activities. You will be compensated at $31.14 per hour, with hotel and daily per diem provided when working outside of your residential area. This position is part of the IBEW bargaining unit.
What you'll do#
- Conduct ground truthing data collection within assigned service areas.
- Engage with customers and residents to verify and record field data.
- Input data in real time using a laptop and iPad.
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions, findings, and collected data.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure data integrity and task completion.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures while working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Represent the organization in a professional and customer-focused manner.
What you'll need#
- Current registration as a full-time student in a post-secondary program, preferably in Environmental Engineering, Data Science, Civil Engineering, Biology, or Communications.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Ability to travel throughout service areas, including Prince Rupert, Smithers, Vanderhoof, Prince George, Tumbler Ridge, and Dawson Creek.
- Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and solve problems in the field.
- Physical ability to walk and stand for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and carry light field equipment.

- Locations: Fort St. John and Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
- Term: Summer 2027 (16 weeks).
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
