About the role#
The Office of Economic Growth and Innovation is seeking a student for a 4-month contract beginning in September 2026. This role provides research support to the Growth Markets and Innovation Capital team, focusing on capital formation, economic growth, and the role of regulation in supporting competitive capital markets.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on public and private capital markets in Ontario and other jurisdictions.
- Support comparative research into market trends, regulatory approaches, and emerging sectors.
- Monitor developments related to innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship.
- Collect, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative information from various sources.
- Identify trends and insights from market, economic, and sector-level data.
- Prepare charts, tables, briefing notes, presentations, and research summaries for internal and external use.
- Assist with jurisdictional scans and comparative analysis of policy and market developments.
- Collaborate with team members to gather information and support project delivery.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, with preference for fields such as Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Health, or Data Science.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Experience with data analysis, including organizing, interpreting, and presenting data.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to summarize complex information clearly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- A demonstrated interest in capital markets, economic growth, innovation, and public policy.
