This 8-month internship provides the opportunity to support sustainability programs within the retail, residential, and office sectors. Reporting to the Director of Sustainability, the successful candidate will receive mentorship and guidance while contributing to complex, cross-functional initiatives. You will work within a collaborative environment that values intellectual curiosity and proactive communication.
What you'll do#
- Support green building certifications, including BOMA Best, LEED O+M, and Zero Carbon Building - Performance by coordinating with site teams and maintaining documentation.
- Collect, organize, validate, and quality-check sustainability data, including utility, water, and waste metrics to ensure audit-ready documentation.
- Complete tenant sustainability requests regarding energy, emissions, and certification disclosures.
- Support social impact tracking and reporting by aggregating data on portfolio initiatives.
- Maintain program libraries, file repositories, and standard documentation to ensure knowledge retention.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop scalable reporting solutions and maintain performance monitoring dashboards.
- Investigate data variances and respond to information requests to improve overall data quality.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related ESG-focused field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, with a willingness to learn new software platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver polished work.
- A collaborative mindset with an openness to feedback and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Experience with project management or process improvements is considered an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario.
- Term: 8-month term beginning in September 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site (4 days per week in the office).
- Compensation: This is a paid position with an expected salary range of $44,850.00 - $56,550.00 per year, prorated based on the contract term.
