About the role#
This is an unpaid student placement designed for individuals seeking to earn academic credit through their college or university. Working under the direction of a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist, you will support children and clients with developmental disabilities, physical illnesses, or injuries to improve their functional outcomes.
What you'll do#
- Provide speech and language therapy to children based on their Individualized Education Plan.
- Evaluate therapy needs by administering standardized assessment tools and applying clinical skills.
- Participate in the development and revision of treatment plans.
- Collaborate with team members, including teachers, therapists, and family members, to support comprehensive care.
- Document all evaluations, progress notes, and consultations in client charts.
- Complete all paperwork required by your academic institution to verify your supervised experience.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Speech and Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of speech and language pathology.
- Ability to meet physical demands including standing, walking, sitting, and repetitive motions.
