This part-time internship provides practical experience in purchasing and supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment. You will support the purchasing team by managing vendor communications, tracking inventory, and ensuring the accuracy of procurement documentation. This role is designed to help you gain experience with purchase order lifecycles and cross-functional coordination.
What you'll do#
- Create and issue purchase orders for raw materials and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) vendors.
- Monitor raw material inventory levels to support timely replenishment.
- Coordinate material delivery timing with receiving and production teams.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in pricing, quantities, or delivery timelines.
- Maintain purchasing records, documentation, and order tracking files.
- Provide administrative support to the purchasing team and assist with vendor follow-ups.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong focus on Excel for data entry and tracking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal departments and vendors.
- Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to identify and document discrepancies in pricing or inventory.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Location & details#
- Location: Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 20-25 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Physical requirements: Must be able to lift 20 to 40 pounds and work in both office and manufacturing settings.
