As an IT/OT Security Analyst intern, you will support the Global Cyber Security Program at Northland Power. Reporting to the Manager, IT/OT Security Operations, you will work alongside global teams and managed service partners to secure both information technology and operations technology assets. This role involves hands-on participation in the implementation, administration, and monitoring of various security technologies across the organization.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the evaluation, implementation, and documentation of security controls, including intrusion detection, endpoint security, SIEM, and data loss prevention.
- Monitor network, system, and application security solutions to highlight areas of non-compliance and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain security systems to ensure they remain up-to-date and effective against threats.
- Provide support for cybersecurity incident response processes and periodic penetration tests.
- Participate in ongoing IT/OT security audits for all Northland entities.
- Collaborate with managed service partners, IT/OT infrastructure teams, and project management to provide guidance on security best practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree or post-secondary diploma in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of IT security tools, principles, and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Understanding of privacy laws as they relate to cybersecurity.
- Desirable academic background includes coursework in network administration, server administration, data protection, or industrial control systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: On-site (4 days per week in the office, with one flexible work-from-home day).
- Term: 4 to 12 months.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
