About the role#
The Biostatistics Intern supports real-world evidence research within the Biostatistics team. This role focuses on data preparation, transformation, and quality control using SAS to support observational studies and registry-based analyses. You will collaborate with biostatisticians, data operations, and clinical teams to ensure datasets are standardized and analysis-ready.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of programming specifications and in-house data standards documentation.
- Perform data cleaning, transformation, and preparation of large clinical registry datasets using SAS.
- Develop and maintain SAS programs and macros to support efficient, reproducible workflows.
- Translate programming specifications into SAS code to prepare analysis-ready datasets, including derivation logic.
- Merge multiple data sources while conducting quality assurance assessments.
- Generate summary outputs such as tables, listings, and frequency reports.
- Document programming logic and dataset specifications using good programming practices.
- Implement data quality checks and troubleshoot data issues.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the second year of a Master's degree program in Biostatistics, Statistics, Public Health, Data Science, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Biomedical Sciences, or Health Administration (or graduation within the past 6 months).
- At least 1 year of hands-on programming experience through research, internships, or academic projects.
- Strong knowledge of Base SAS, PROC SQL, and data step programming.
- Familiarity with SAS macros.
- Knowledge of programming specifications, healthcare or registry data, and QC automation is preferred, as is exposure to R or Python.
Location & details#
- Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Term: Summer 2026 (9 to 12 month duration).
- Schedule: 20 to 29 hours per week during standard business hours.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
