Nexus Family Healing is seeking interns for our Austin, Minnesota campus. This role provides practical experience in a trauma-informed residential facility, allowing students to apply classroom theory to real-world mental and behavioral health work. Interns gain hands-on experience supporting youth and families while receiving support from trained professionals.
What you'll do#
- Fulfill the specific learning objectives and criteria required by your academic institution.
- Participate in orientation and onboarding to learn organizational policies, including safety, harassment-free environment standards, and resident confidentiality.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client treatment and services information.
- Adhere to an agreed-upon schedule, meet supervision requirements, and act professionally in all interactions with clients and staff.
- Assist staff in physical interventions and restraints as needed.
- Perform additional tasks and projects as requested.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master’s, or graduate degree program in behavioral sciences, human services, or a related field at an accredited institution.
- Completion of required experience hours for your specific internship level.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet state and company driving requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted (up to 100 pounds with assistance) and stand or walk for 2-4 hours.
- Ability to twist, bend, and stretch to perform daily activities in a residential setting.
- Successful completion of the Handle With Care behavior intervention training and exam.
- Knowledge of family-based philosophy and practice is preferred.
