About the role#
The Engagement, Inclusion, and Belonging (EIB) Intern will support the development of high-impact programs, events, and communication materials that further the organization's EIB strategy. This role involves collaborating with internal departments, external partners, and management to plan and execute initiatives that foster an inclusive environment for employees and members. The internship is designed to build career readiness competencies including communication, critical thinking, and leadership.
What you'll do#
- Assist with developing resources and programs that support engagement, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
- Attend and support Affinity Group meetings and events.
- Develop and communicate internal and external content to promote EIB activities and initiatives.
- Conduct research and benchmarking analysis to identify best practices and monitor EIB trends.
- Participate in departmental training activities to ensure understanding of policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with the EIB team to track project progress and receive guidance on ongoing tasks.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma.
- Current enrollment in an Associate or Bachelor degree program.
- Knowledge of current events affecting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse workforce.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present information to staff and members.
- Ability to be innovative, decisive, exhibit integrity, and build trust.
- Ability to manage project progress and deadlines effectively.
Location & details#
- Location: East Lansing, Michigan (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Compensation: Paid hourly internship.
- Schedule: Part-time, 15 to 25 hours per week during business hours.
