About the role#
MSM Inc. is seeking an AI Solutions Co-op to build a secure, cloud-based AI assistant. This tool will interpret a large library of architectural documents, including PDF, Word, and Excel files containing both text and 3D rendered images. The goal is to develop a system that visually understands drawings, provides rapid answers, and integrates new files on a monthly basis. This project is built using Microsoft Azure, focusing on cloud-first infrastructure and enterprise security.
What you'll do#
- Configure a secure Azure environment, including Blob Storage, encryption, private networking, and role-based access.
- Build an ingestion pipeline using Azure AI Document Intelligence to extract text, tables, and embedded renderings.
- Create a multimodal Azure AI Search index and connect page images to an Azure OpenAI vision model.
- Set up automatic incremental indexing to ensure new files are processed efficiently.
- Tune retrieval performance for fast response times and test accuracy against real architectural drawings.
What you'll need#
- Coursework or project experience with Python, including comfort with REST APIs and the command line.
- Familiarity with cloud computing, specifically Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
- Exposure to AI and machine learning concepts such as LLMs, embeddings, or NLP.
- Strong problem-solving skills and clear written communication.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
